Between October 11–13, 2024, the 14th Via Mariae Conference took place in Șumuleu Ciuc/Csíksomlyó under the theme “Year of Renewal.” The event was hosted at the Multifunctional Center of the Harghita County Directorate for Social and Child Protection.
The conference began on Friday, October 11, with participant registration, followed by an opening ceremony and welcome speeches. The first day concluded with a project presentation and a roundtable discussion on pilgrimage as a means of spiritual renewal.
On Saturday, October 12, the program continued with professional presentations and roundtable discussions. Participants explored the history of the Via Mariae and Pentecost pilgrimages and learned about volunteer activities and pilgrimages in various regions. The day ended with a workshop where the 2025 pilgrimage calendar was planned.
On Sunday, October 13, the conference continued with a religious service at the Șumuleu Ciuc/Csíksomlyó shrine, followed by a commemoration and a guided pilgrimage between Vlăhiţa/Tolvajos Pass and Ciba/Csiba.
The conference provided an excellent opportunity to promote the Via Mariae and pilgrimages, as well as to strengthen connections among participants. The event was marked by spiritual and community renewal, emphasizing the importance of pilgrimages and volunteer work.
