Active Szeklerland Conference

On September 21, 2024, the first-ever Active Szeklerland Conference was held at the Sepsi Arena in Sfântu Gheorghe/Sepsiszentgyörgy, focusing on movement, healthy eating, active leisure activities, active tourism, hiking, orienteering, and active aging.

Our association’s president, Bíró Barna Botond, also participated in the event. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of such events, which not only promote the region's tourist attractions but also connect tourism professionals, facilitating the building of professional relationships.

Among the speakers were Antal Árpád András, the mayor of Sfântu Gheorghe//Sepsiszentgyörgy, Révész Máriusz, the Hungarian government’s state secretary responsible for “Active Hungary,” Tánczos Barna, RMDSZ senator and former Minister of Environment, Waters, and Forests of Romania, and Berencsi Miklós, the project manager of the Active and Ecotourism Development Center.

The event's professional agenda covered a wide range of topics, including:

  • Movement vs. smartphones: mental health preservation in the age of gadgets;
  • Running, friendship, and perseverance: the Fitness Tribe experience;
  • Health programs for supporters, from grandparents to grandchildren.

At the conclusion of the event, the organizers stated that if they managed to plant the foundation for a commitment to an active lifestyle in the participants, they had achieved their goals. They also highlighted that a conference can be both interactive and experience-centered, bringing a new approach to the world of similar professional events.

This event served not only to promote an active lifestyle but also to strengthen community bonds, reflecting the richness and diversity of the values of Szeklerland.
