Taste of Transylvania 2024

The third edition of the Taste of Transylvania gastronomic festival was organized, and we were proud to be partners of this event. The festival aims to revive traditions that have faded over the centuries and to give new momentum to Transylvanian gastronomy. One of the unique aspects of the event was that, in addition to the usual professional programs – such as cooking workshops and the so-called "Joy Cooking" – the lineup also included concerts.

Held in the picturesque setting of Ghimeș/Gyimes, the event offered visitors experiences that combined traditional flavors with modern culinary techniques. The "Joy Cooking" program was particularly popular among attendees: chefs and housewifes created entirely different dishes using the same ingredients, each showcasing their unique style. This interaction perfectly reflected the organizers' goal: to demonstrate that 21st-century Transylvanian cuisine is rooted in tradition while embracing a fresh and modern perspective.

A central theme of the festival was showcasing the diversity of Transylvania. The event featured not only Hungarian gastronomic elements but also Romanian, Saxon, Armenian, Jewish, and Roma influences. "We want a Transylvanian festival," said chef Trucza Adorján, the visionary and main organizer of the event, who believes that the region's rich cultural diversity can also be expressed through its cuisine.

Among the interactive programs was a new activity: the first-ever communal potato harvest. During this special event, participants harvested potatoes themselves, followed by a shared cooking and dining experience. The organizers hoped that visitors would gain a firsthand appreciation of the hard work involved in producing basic ingredients.

The Taste of Transylvania festival took place from September 12 to 15 at the Gyimesi Skanzen Guesthouse. The event became a true gastronomic celebration, offering visitors a wealth of experiences not only in taste but also in culture.
